The city might tend to slow down a bit during the summer months, but you’ll still find no shortage of fun North Miami events. Sure it’s hot; luckily there are plenty of Miami pool parties, water parks and craft beer bars to keep you cool. So take advantage of a less-crowded Miami this summer and be sure to hit up these concerts, festivals and parties.
Jazz at MOCA
Museum of Contemporary Art North Miami hosts a free outdoor concert one night per month that showcases some of Miami’s best local talent. MOCA is welcoming Jean P. Jam Band to the stage Friday, May 31st at 8 p.m. in celebration of Haitian Heritage Month. The band’s Haitian saxophonist, Jean Almatas, performs deeply rooted world music that will have you tapping your toes all night long. Bring your blankets, lawn chairs and picnic baskets to enjoy jazz under the stars.
Full Moon Kayak Tour
Venture out on the water for a peaceful moonlit paddle at Oleta River State Park June 14th or June 15th. The Full Moon Kayak Tour at Oleta River Outdoor Center begins at 7:30 p.m. and lasts about three hours. Grab some glow sticks and follow the tour guides through a mangrove trail into the intercoastal waterway and across to Sandspur Island. Round out the evening with campfire s’mores and refreshments at the beach cove. Don’t miss one of our favorite summertime North Miami events!
Citizen Cope at North Beach Bandshell
What could be better than a live concert along the oceanfront? Sway to the bluesy sounds of Citizen Cope at North Beach Bandshell June 23rd and savor the sights and sounds of the beach. The show starts at 6 p.m. and runs until approximately 10 p.m. One dollar from every ticket will be donated to Mimi Woods Foundation, which helps provide support to youths in need through arts and education.
North Miami Independence Day Celebration by the Bay
Celebrate the Fourth of July at the 2019 North Miami Independence Day Celebration by the Bay. The free North Miami event starts at 6 p.m. on July 4th at Florida International University’s Biscayne Bay Campus. Rain or shine, you can plan on a fun evening of music, entertainment and awe-inspiring fireworks shot over Biscayne Bay. Make sure you bring a blanket or lawn chair so you can sit back and enjoy the show.
Khalid Free Spirit World Tour
Khalid is coming to Miami this summer! The Platinum-selling R&B vocalist will perform on August 17th at the AmericanAirlines Arena as part of his Free Spirit World Tour. The show starts at 7:30 p.m. but get there early to enjoy tapas, craft beer and specialty cocktails in 601, the arena’s waterfront restaurant and lounge!
